Peanut Butter Star-shaped Dog Treats

In my TikTok caption, I mentioned that I was taking the 'customized gift' theme to the extreme this year. My family has grown significantly from 2021-2022, and some of that growth includes work relatives. Currently, I work as a senior analyst for Digitas Health, which is part of the marketing powerhouse, Publicis Groupe. Throughout my year at this agency, I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most professional and influential people I have ever met. This year I have been very gift happy to show my gratitude to the people that have supported me the most, but I plan to end the year right with my homemade dog treats and potato chips.

Ingredients

My favorite thing about this recipe is how easy it is to find cheap, pet-friendly ingredients, and I am thrilled with the results.

2 cups of flour

1 cup creamy natural peanut butter

1/2 cup sugar free apple sauce

1/2 cup chicken stock

star shaped cookie cutter

Peanut Butter Icing

3 tablespoons of creamy natual peanut butter

2 teaspoons of non-toxic, food safe, liquid whitener

Tasty toppings

Bacon

Dog treats of your choice

Cheese

Your choice of these foods that are great for your dog!

Directions

Whether you gift them to someone else or keep them for yourself, pets will love them.

Step 1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

Step 2. Combine flour, peanut butter, and applesauce in a large mixing bowl. Add the stock and stir until well combined. Dough will be thick. Once combined use your hands to press the dough into a ball.

Step 3. If needed, sprinkle flour on a flat surface and roll evenly with a rolling pin (or a salt shaker, as my ass did). The dough should be about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into desired shapes and place on baking sheets.

Step 4. Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 5. Mix together liquid whitener and peanut butter

Step 6. Ice the dog biscuit and top with the treats of your choice.

Step 7. Store in an airtight container.
